FAQ: Why do you use watermarks on your images?

In the past I tried to avoid using watermarks on my photographs because they can detract from one's viewing pleasure. However I have discovered that some unscrupulous people have taken advantage of this and have used the images on other websites, without permission or payment. Since it is almost impossible to prevent them from doing so, or get them to remove them, I have now taken the decision to add watermarks to the images. This does not prevent anyone from copying the images but it does mean they will have some work to do to remove them.

All images reproduced on this website are very compressed and optimized for the web and therefore will not reproduce well in print form if taken from the site directly.

Should anyone wish to use an image from this site, on their own site or indeed in print, they are most welcome to contact me for a license.
